What is Buckhead?

Buckhead, annexed in 1952 by the City of Atlanta, is a district of some 28 square miles in Northeast Atlanta and home to more than 100,000 residents. It is legally defined as that portion of Atlanta northwest of Interstate 85 and northeast of Interstate 75.  The area was named Buckhead in 1838 when Henry Irby, who purchased Buckhead's original 203 acres in the early 1800s, marked his general store and with the head of a large buck deer.

* Buckhead has twelve street names that include the word "Peachtree."

* Buckhead has the 9th wealthiest zip code in the nation (30327).

* Buckhead has more than 1,400 retail units where shoppers spend more than $1 billion a year.

How old is the BBA?

Since its inception in 1951, the Buckhead Business Association (BBA) has grown to be an integral part of the Buckhead business community with more than 400 active members.

Can anyone join the BBA?

Yes, membership is open to anyone who works, lives or enjoys Buckhead. Members of this non-profit organization include corporate, midsize and small businesses, entrepreneurs and individuals.

Do you have to join BBA at the beginning of the year?

One may join the BBA at any time.  Memberships and Corporate Sponsorships run for 12 consecutive months from the date of activation.

Is the BBA a networking organization?

The BBA brings together and promotes business in Buckhead.  It offers a forum to hear influential business leaders, as well offering visibility in the business community. At the year-round meetings, the BBA offers excellent opportunities for business and community leaders  to build new relationships and forge  business connections.

What is the BBA known for?

The BBA promotes business in the Buckhead area. It is a platform for members to work together to make Buckhead a great place to do business.

The BBA Leadership Institute selects 24 candidates each year for its prestigious  leadership  program.  Graduates of the program include many leaders in the business community.

The BBA Young Buckhead Professionals (YoungBucks) are group of young (under 30) and energetic group of business professionals who hosts both social and charitable events. In addition to building a strong network, their focus is on giving back to the community.

Is the BBA a non-profit?

The BBA is a 501C-6 non profit business organization. At the end of each year, net profits are distributed back into the community.  Recent donations have been distributed to Buckhead’s public elementary schools, and the North Atlanta High School NAPPS program, the Be Seen in Buckhead camera fund, and the Atlanta History Center’s Olympic museum.

Are meetings mandatory?

The BBA hosts weekly breakfast meetings, monthly socials and quarterly luncheons for its members who enjoy the opportunity to make new business contacts, hear notable speakers and keep apprised of what goes on in Buckhead. However, there is no membership requirement to attend any or all of these events.
