ATLANTA, Feb. 2, 2016 — The chief bicycle officer for the city of Atlanta and the executive director of the Chastain Park Conservancy are slated to speak to the Buckhead Business Association (BBA) during breakfast meetings in February.

Chastain Park Conservancy (CPC) Executive Director Rosa McHugh will address the organization at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4. Chief Bicycle Officer Becky Katz will address the organization at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 18.

McHugh has been involved with the CPC since 2009, joined the team as Director of Development in 2012 and was named executive director in 2013. The CPC restores, enhances, maintains and preserves Chastain Park and is raising $5.2 million to build expanded sidewalks and a 40,000-square-foot playground.

For her presentation, McHugh will focus on the ROI of investing in existing parks. Chastain Park is 2.2 miles from Tower Place in the heart of Buckhead and welcomes more than 2 million patrons a year.

Katz joined the administration of Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed in October 2015. In her role, she is responsible for a wide range of activities related to bicycle transportation, including planning bicycle projects, public outreach, grant writing and the implementation of the city’s bike share program.

Also in February, Georgia State University President Dr. Mark Becker will give the keynote address during the BBA’s Annual Luncheon, scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25, at Flourish Atlanta. The civic organization will also honor local businesses for their roles in transforming the Buckhead community.

The business organization holds breakfast meetings at 7:30 a.m. most Thursday mornings at the City Club of Buckhead. Meetings feature a business, political or civic leader as a speaker, and topics usually include leading issues within the Buckhead community and Atlanta as a whole. Tickets for members are $10 in advance and $12 at the door; non-member tickets are $20.
