The Buckhead Business Association presents "The Second Cup" featuring
Special Agent Renea Green

Topic: Sex Trafficking - It's Not Always What You Think

Renea Green / Special Agent, Georgia Bureau of Investigation

Renea Green is currently a Special Agent with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation where she has been employed since July 2006. Prior to her employment with the GBI, she received her Associates Degree from Young Harris College and her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of North Georgia.

SA Green was hired by the GBI in July 2006, and began her career working undercover narcotics investigations in middle Georgia.  While at the Macon Regional Drug Enforcement Office (MRDEO), SA Green utilized multiple confidential informants to make controlled purchases of illegal drugs and contraband, executed numerous search warrants, and investigated known drug dealers through a Title III Wire-Tap Investigation, resulting in the arrests of several known drug dealers and suppliers throughout the State of Georgia.

In 2008, SA Green transferred to the Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes (CEACC) Unit and in 2011 assisted in starting up a Human Trafficking Unit. While working in these areas, SA Green has received specialized training on how to conduct both pro-active and re-active cybercrime investigations against children. During the course of these investigations, SA Green has worked with local, state, and federal law enforcement officials, as well as other Internet Crimes against Children (ICAC) Task Forces around the country.  SA Green has successfully located and rescued multiple victims of child sex trafficking and child sexual abuse.  As a result of her investigations, numerous violators have been arrested and convicted and sentenced to both state and federal prison. SA Green is a Task Force Officer (TFO) with the Department of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) where she serves as a liaison between the GBI and HSI, allowing her to prosecute offenders on both the state and federal level. SA Green has helped to coordinate multiple statewide peer to peer operations and has assisted in numerous other undercover types of operations, such as house/hotel operations that targeted individuals who were seeking to have sex with children.

SA Green is currently working with other agents in the newly created Human Exploitation and Trafficking Unit (HEAT) that was recently created by the Governors Office and First Lady Marty Kemp. This unit has been created to eradicate sex and labor traffickers within the State of Georgia and to assist our federal partners with locating and apprehending the subjects in these investigations, nationally and  internationally.

Some of SA Green’s specialized training and certifications include being trained in conducting forensic interviews with children who may have been victims of sexual abuse by the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children.  SA Green has training in Internet Safety and has given multiple presentations to people from ages Pre-K through adults around the state.  SA Green is also a POST Certified Instructor in which she has been asked to lead several classes in the areas of Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking to civilian, law enforcement agencies, and prosecutors throughout the State of Georgia. In addition, SA Green has also traveled to Israel and The Republic of Georgia to assist law enforcement officials in creating units and/or advancing their skills and knowledge in the area of Human Trafficking.
