Confessions of an Entrepreneur: The Tea about a Side Hustle
Ninety Nine West

Atlanta, GA 30305
Coffee and tea will be provided

Speaker: Poorvi Chordia

Dr. Chordia is an attending physician and infectious disease specialist at Grady Hospital; her husband Abe is a Harvard-trained radiologist.
Although tea rituals are rooted in her heritage, Poorvi's decision to launch a "side hustle" was triggered by the pandemic. That leap of faith is now known as Herbs & Kettles, a premium tea brand available nationwide.
Last year after busy frontline shifts at their respective hospitals, she and her husband, Abe, cherished time spent over tea at home with each other and their two young daughters. In an example of a pandemic silver lining, the couple ignited their love of loose-leaf teas, spent more time in their urban garden, and Poorvi received certification as a tea sommelier. From there, Poorvi and Abe started selling their loose-leaf teas at neighborhood Atlanta farmer's markets.
Today, their Herbs & Kettles brand boasts a collection of more than 60 varieties including loose leaf, herbal blends, and lattes from single source, single batch growers and from farms where Poorvi and Abe have visited. Personally committed to economic stability in her native India, Poorvi directs proceeds to biodiversity and wildlife conservation efforts including a new Red Panda initiative with the Prameya Foundation.
